“The spine is built to bend, move, and adapt to the body’s movements. In an upright position the spine should be straight and the vertebrae should be evenly shaped. However, in some people the spine has taken a turn – quite literally. Scoliosis is an extreme spinal curvature, but it is important to distinguish which category of scoliosis an individual has before knowing whether or not the recovery is possible, and how much recovery can be expected.

There are two main types of scoliosis. Structural scoliosis means that the bones of the spine are shaped unevenly.  When these bones are stacked on top of one another, it is  like trying to stack a tower using uneven blocks. The column will naturally bend with the shape of the bones.  Although the structure of the vertebrae is unlikely to change, it is still possible to improve the function of the spine with balanced muscle control…”
